Another great year over with and planning for the next is well ahead.

The first week back at school and the year 7 and 8's had the opportunity to take part in a workshop with the ex-drummer from Status Quo, Jeff Rich.  Jeff set his drum kit up in the hall, along with lots of other different drums of all shapes and sizes.  He talked about each one and where it came from and what it was used for.

He also brought with him a variety of unusual instruments and every student got the chance to play one of these instruments whilst he played his drum kit.

This event was very interesting and although the students didn't really know who he was, I'm sure they will be watching repeats of Top of the Pops, to see him playing with Status Quo.

In September we also have a team coming into school to work with the students on the introduction to design of rockets and mechanics of flight design and build.  They will get the chance to make a rockets and do a test flight outdoors.

We have arranged an Enterprise Day for each year group. with an emphasis on teamwork, communication, interacting with other students and professionals and learning through doing.

A visit to the Imperial War Museum to look at an exhibition entitled 'Build a Truce'.  This is to fit in with the history curriculum on the World Wars.

Lots of Authors will be coming into school, to encourage the students to read more.

We have a wealth of projects in the pipeline to help our students learn Life Skills and develop them to become a respected person in their local community.
