FA COACHING COURSE
PITCHING IN WITH PREMIER PLAYERS
Year 13 footballers are polishing their boots in readiness to learn from some of the best coaches in the country. This term, the entire NVQ Level 2 football coaching course have spent a day at Bolton Wanderers Football Club's International Football Academy rubbing shoulders with some of the best coaches in the country.
The visit saw our lads take part in a question and answer session with Bolton's coaches before being shown around the club's fantastic training facilities and observing a training session with Bolton's Academy players.
The trip has been organised by course tutor, Dave Gardner who has both UEFA B and FA Youth coaching Licenses and has been a coach at Bolton for the past 2 years.
"So far on the course, the lads have been a credit to the Sixth Form," said Dave. "They have great enthusiasm and are willing to learn from us as coaches. They have already performed well in the classroom, on the school field and are passing on their knowledge to local primary school kids but the next step is for them to see how top coaches work with top players."
Dave believes the lads now need to learn more about the techniques used by coaches to communicate with players, to manage different personalities and to organise large groups.
"Good coaches respond to good listeners. I know the coaches at Bolton are of the highest quality and I know the lads are willing to listen the day was a great success all round and we hope to introduce more trips like this in the future." added Dave.
