THE ENGLISH DEPARTMENT
MUSIC'S MR WRITE
Budding Music Journalist Matt Royle, 18, is preparing for life after SCA at Sheffield University where he hopes to study a BA in Journalism.
Like many lower school pupils, Matt spread his wings after his GSCEs and enrolled at another prominent college in Salford. However, he returned to the Sixth Form a year later for the friendly learning environment and personable teaching techniques on offer here.
"I'd never really considered university until I came back but I've been encouraged to go by the team. They've supported me all the way through application and now that's done I can't wait to get started. I'm not ready for working life just yet," said Matt.
His two passions in life are writing and music. This was illustrated during his time at Salford City Academy where he studied English Lit, Sociology and ECDL and made his mark on Manchester nightlife attending a multitude of gigs. He now hopes to do the same in Sheffield where his studies will satisfy his creative writing and the student union will provide him with a wealth of material to have his opinions heard.
"I'm looking forward to reviewing a few gigs for the student paper and hopefully most people will think I'm right!" added Matt.
