HUMANITIES

THOSE WHO CAN, TEACH

The teaching professsion currently faces a massive shortage of new applicants but the recruitment of one of Salford City Academy's finest will be music to the ears of the Ministry of Education.

In his AS Levels, Mark Bossons recently achieved an A in Psychology and a B in English and Sociology. He is now planning to gain the qualifications needed to become a teacher and give something back to the profession that has helped him achieve such excellent grades.

Mark finished his GCSE's in 2006 a year before the Sixth Form opened. After a year studying at another college he returned to Salford City Academy to join our first intake. 'I probably wouldn't have begun the other course if I'd known at the time how busy and impersonal it was.' sid Mark

'I don't regret coming back here at all. The first year was always going to be difficult, for teachers as well as students, but I think its been a real success. The teachers have put in a lot of effort for us and I'm just happy to be paying them back.'

My aim now is to go to Liverpool John Moores University where I have accepted an offer for September 2009, before beginning a Post-Graduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) and training to be a teacher. It's always appealed to me as a career and I think I will be able to progress quickly.' he added.
