THE SCIENCE DEPARTMENT
IN SAFE HANDS
Charlotte Platt is on course to achieve her dream of becoming a fully qualified surgeon. The grades she achieved in AS Level Chemistry, Human Biology, Maths and French have put her in an excellent position to study medicine at Liverpool John Moores University, where Charlotte has accepted an offer to start her studies in September 2009.
'I'm really pleased with my grades but I need to stay focused and not get complacent. But as long as I work hard I can do it,' she said.
Charlotte had previously enrolled at another college in Salford having graduated from the Academy a year before the Sixth Form opened. Speaking of the experience she said: 'I found the classes there too big. In my maths class there were 30 students which was too many for a subject with such a heavy workload.'
Since returning to Salford City Academy in the Sixth Form's first intake Charlotte has had no such problems. 'The teachers in the Sixth Form made sure they got to know me on a personal level and I think that really helped when it came to studying at exam time.' said Charlotte.
I've found it friendly too. When I arrived I didn't know anyone. Now I have some really close mates and everyone seems to get on well.' she added.
