BTEC BUSINESS STUDIES

Internal Filler

EXPECTING TO DELIVER

When it comes to mixing and matching your sixth form options few will have had as diverse an experience as prospective healthcare professional, Naomi Crooks.  The 18 year-old from Peel Green combined a BTEC National Award in Business with an A-Level in Psychology and AS-Levels in Biology and Sociology to acquire the estimated grades she needed to submit her recent UCAS application.

“I’m pleased with the variety of studying choices I made.  My BTEC in Business was a style of learning I wasn’t used to but I found the constant progression appealing and the combination of that with A-Levels meant learning was always diverse and interesting,” said Naomi.

Naomi’s decision to apply for university was not one that she always felt comfortable with but changes to the training requirements of healthcare professionals, introduced last year, meant that if she wanted to become fully qualified she would have to attain a University degree due to the increasingly technical nature of the profession.

"It was never my intention to go to University. In the end, the learning environment in the Sixth Form and the support I got from the team convinced me to put in a UCAS application and I don’t regret it,” said Naomi.

“I’m really starting to see the benefits of my time here now. My application is in and I can see where it is all going,” Naomi added.

Naomi has recently accepted an offer to study Women's Health Care at Edge Hill University in September 2009.
