MEETING THE CHALLENGE WITH BTEC

THE BENEFITS OF BTECs   

BTEC Nationals are vocational qualifications which prepare students equally for direct entry into employment or for progression to higher education.  Since opening in 2007 the Sixth Form has provided pupils with the opportunity to study for a full BTEC National Diploma (3 A-level equivalent) or a combination of BTEC National Certificates (2 A-level equivalent) or Awards (1 A-level equivalent) with the traditional A-levels on offer at the college.   

The needs of our students vary considerably. The majority will opt to study traditional A-Levels but an increasing number are choosing to take advantage of the vocational courses we have on offer. Many prefer the practical learning of a BTEC whilst others like to mix it up between A-Levels and vocational courses. It is our job to be responsive to their needs and advise them in the right direction.
