The curriculum encompasses the skills that pupils need to become healthy, active citizens.  We expect our students to develop a work ethic that will remain with them for life, creating learners ready for the challenges of their future career.  We have an uncompromising approach to standards of discipline through an emphasis on supporting each individual.

We support every student in the academy to aim high and to outperform expectations in their achievement, in the classroom and beyond.  Our system of individual support and personal mentors has led to the achievement of added value scores in student attainment at the very highest level not only in Salford or within ULT but nationally.

Pastoral Care and an "Award Winning" Policy of Inclusion

Making the experience of Salford City Academy rewarding, engaging, supportive and challenging is a vital element in our task.  Happy and involved students are more able to consistently focus on the effort it takes to bring out the best in themselves.  Whatever difficulties students may face within the academy or indeed outside, our dedicated Inclusion Team are on hand to support students in dealing with issues and helping them to make the most of their academy life.

Enrichment Beyond the Classroom

As a Specialist Sports Academy, sport plays a vital role in the curriculum.  Team games at a competitive level teach teamwork and the fulfilment of striving to excel.

Beyond sport, enrichment opportunities lie in music, drama, charity fund raising and much more.  In addition, from Year 9, students will be offered a chance to participate in the Duke of Edinburgh Award.

Our Enrichment programme goes beyond Eccles with overseas experiences such as skiing in Europe, activity weeks in France and short breaks to popular cities such as Paris.

We also have established links with schools in Tanzania, the Ukraine and Narbonne in France.
