What is Psychology?

Psychology is the scientific study of all forms of human and animal behaviour
The Course provides a broad introduction to the scope and nature of psychology as a science. The emphasis is on applying knowledge and understanding rather than just acquiring knowledge, thereby developing students’ transferable skills of analysis, evaluation and critical thinking.

What Topics will I will studying?

AS outline

At AS, students develop a broad knowledge and understanding of the core areas of psychology.

  • PSYA1 – Cognitive Psychology (Memory) Developmental (Attachment) Psychology and Research Methods

A2 outline

At A2, the specification offers a range of topic-based options which bring together explanations from different psychological approaches

  • PSYA3 – Anomalistic Psychology, Individual Differences (Depression)
  • PSYA4 –Psychology in Action and Research Methods.
