GCSE Spanish Students visit Beech Street Primary School - 30 September 2011

Internal Filler

On the afternoon of Friday 30th September, four of our GCSE Spanish students went to nearby Primary school, Beech Street in order to deliver lessons, in Spanish, about food. The pupils had a hand in planning the lessons and although they were initially very nervous about teaching to younger children, the session was a complete success.

Our students had planned activities including food tasting sessions, an introduction to various Spanish foods and drinks, as well as a competition to design a Spanish menu.

Staff at Beech Street said that the SCA students "were polite and professional in demeanour and would make good future teachers!"

Natasha Roebuck said:  "The afternoon was really good fun and a great opportunity to see what it's really like teaching."  In evaluations, all of the pupils graded the activity as ‘excellent' and all said that they would like to do similar style activities in other subject areas.
