Winner of Young Writers Competition - July 2011
Back in October 2010 our new year 7 intake took part in a competition organised by ‘Young Writers’ where they had to write a short story / mini saga using no more than 50 words.
Young Writers was established in 1990 with the aim of encouraging and nurturing writing skills in young people and giving them the opportunity to see their work in print. By helping them to become more confident and expand their creative skills, we hope our young writers will be encouraged to keep writing as they grow.
They quoted that the entries they received showed an impressive level of creativity and imagination, providing an absorbing look into the eager minds of our future authors.SCA received copies of the books in July 2011 and there are 33 of our year 7 students featured in the book with their winning short stories.
Each student will be congratulated and presented with a copy of the book at the year end assembly on July 22nd 2011.
Debbie Wilkinson, LRC Manager would like to say ‘Well Done’ to all those students with entries in the book and to keep writing these fantastic stories.
These stories are in a publication entitled 'Mini Sagas - Creative Capers' -Greater Manchester and Lancashire, edited by Donna Samworth, ISBN No. 978-085739-438-5
