Visit from Steiner Cruise Line - 17th May 2011

STEINER CRUISE LINE RECRUITMENT INFORMATION

Angela Vickery, Recruitment Manager at Steiner Cruise Line, paid a visit to SCA 6th form from her offices in London to talk to our year 13 H&B students about working for Steiner Cruise Line on their luxury liners.

She told the girls about the training they would have to do in London before they were allocated to a ship and this would involve learning about customer service, dress code, make-up and the do’s and don’ts about working onboard a cruise ship.

They were also told about the cost implications for living and training in London and also about the salary and generous tips that the clients using the services on board the cruise liner give to the salon staff for their good work.

The girls asked Angela about her time as a hairdresser on board the cruise liners and she said how much she enjoyed her work and she had the opportunity to travel the world and visit Countries she may never have had the opportunity to do if she hadn’t taken this particular career path.  She said that the American clients were the biggest tippers and would sometimes give as much as £100 tip for a single treatment.

The girls found the talk and the power point presentation very interesting and it gave them a lot to think about for their future.  Angela left her details so that the girls could get in touch with her about any questions they may think of in the next few days and if they decide they would like to apply for a place with Steiner Cruise Line, she could let them have the details.
