Visit to Dermalogica Training Centre - 31st March 2011

On Thursday 31st March 2011, 8 of our year 12 hair and beauty students were taken to the Dermalogica Training Centre in York.

When we arrived, we were taken straight into the training room for the first session.  This involved 2 ladies from Dermalogica, Dawn and Jenna, talking us through the products that are used in beauty salons.  The students were allowed to actually use the products on their faces.  Dawn asked the students what they thought of each product and how it felt on their faces.

The students were then taken through to the treatment beds, where they took turns in administering a full facial and massage on each other.  The girls also had the chance to use a head piece to have a very close look at their ‘clients’ face, so they could decide which products would be best for their skin type and any ‘blemishes’ they may have.

There was also a visit from a lady from the sales team at Dermalogica, who gave out her email address to the students and offered to help and advise the students in the future with job opportunities, interview questions/techniques and any help if they decide to set up their own business with supplies etc.

All the students enjoyed this activity, because they got to work with professionals from Dermalogica, learn about the products and use some of them whilst working together in a professional environment.
