Product Professional from L'Oreal - 8th November 2010

Stuart Chapman from L'Oreal came into the SCA Hair and Beauty Salon to train the year 13 students studying hairdressing about the different products that L'Oreal produce in their hairdressing range, which they will be using on clients during their course.

All the students were given a work book on retail education written by L'Oreal, which they can refer to during their course across the year and even use in their working life as a hairdresser in the future.

Stuart laid out some cards on the floor, going across were the types of products and going down were the short descriptions of what the product actually does for hair.  The students then had to work together to line up all the products taken from the salon display on the floor, lining them up with the correct 'type' and 'use' of each one.  They all worked well together and asked Stuart for advice if they weren't sure.

The reason for this training is to give the students help and advice on answering questions that their clients might ask of them, about the products that they will be using on their hair in the salon.  Stuart said it was very important that they knew the products they were using and why they were using them.

Stuart asked each student to pick out 3 products and give a short description of what 1 of the products was and what it actually did to the client's hair.

During this 90 minute training session the students asked lots of questions and Stuart also asked the students questions about the products and their usage.  It gave them a chance to work with a professional and work together, learning through doing with real life investigation and active enquiry.
