Music Medley with Beech Street P.S. - May 2010

Internal Filler

In May Year 5 pupils from Beech Street Primary School worked in harmony when they were invited to join us in the Creative Arts department to produce their own personal CD.

In recent months, our Creative Arts department have been been inviting our feeder primary schools to attend music workshops at Salford City Academy.

The pupils were introduced to music technology and we worked with them to create a music track which they later burned to a CD.  They then designed the artwork to decorate the CD which they would later take home with them as a momento of their workshop achievement.

The pupils created a track to fit their own personal music tastes from Garageband (computer software) audio loops in varying genres and midi keyboard tracks.

Helen Pechy, Subject Leader Creative Arts says: " The workshop is beneficial to these Year 5 pupils, firstly because this is completely new to them and they have the chance to learn new computer and keyboard skills as well as work with new technology such as the Garageband software".

"Secondly, they have had the chance to visit Salford City Academy, which gives them a real taste of what we have to offer in terms of facilities and  equipment".
