Key 103 Bus - Motorway Safety - 6th November 2009

The year 9 students were shown a short film from the Highways Agency on the dangers of crossing motorways and asked to take notes for ideas to make their own short recording. 

The students were then split into small groups and given a laptop to work as a team and put together a short script, poem or speech on the dangers of crossing motorways.  The students really got into their stride, working together and putting some good ideas down, with the help and advice of the professionals from Key 103.  They then moved to the recording part of the bus and recorded their piece of work. 

This was then edited quickly by the Key 103 team and the students could have it sent to their mobile phones, which of course most of them did. Considering the short deadlines they had, the students really enjoyed this project, especially when they were told it was a competition with other schools and the winning school could have some ‘Pop Stars’ coming into school to be at assemblies and their production would be professionally produced at their studio’s in Manchester and possibly heard on Key 103 radio by millions of people.
