Enrichment Programme - All through the year
On a Wednesday afternoon from 2.00-3.30pm, all pupils take part in the Enrichment programme either on, or off the school site. The programme was introduced 3 years ago to support the governments 5 hour target of physical activity for every child, but also to broaden horizons, encourage teamwork and inter-personal skills, improve confidence and self-esteem and to challenge pupils, giving them more opportunities to have fun! Enrichment builds on the learning that takes place in the Academy and gives pupils the chance to gain additional qualifications, allowing them to take part in activities they may not normally get the opportunity to do.Pupils choose their activities each year, which range from First Aid, Jewellery Making, Fashion Design, Sign Language, Self Defence, Golf & Circus Skills, to the more adventurous such as Ice Skating, Horse Riding, Watersports, Climbing & Team Building, Fishing, Skiing, Skateboarding and many more!
The programme is evaluated regularly by pupils (via the Sports Council) and staff who are responsible for ‘vetting’ new activities, and changes are made each year to ensure the highest quality service is provided.
