Peak District Data Trip by Year 11
On 19th September, Year 11 students set off to the Peak District with the objective of collecting data to measure the impact of tourism on Castleton, a popular tourist attraction.
The students used various data collection techniques, such as land-use surveys, footpath erosion measurements and pedestrian questionnaires for their investigation report.
A core part of the students' Geography GCSE work is to collect and analyse data themselves. This counts as 25% of their final GCSE grade.
This trip also gave them the opportunity to use work from the classroom and see a beautiful part of the country that they may not have visited before.
Mr Edmondson, Geography Subject Leader said: "The rapid growth in confidence of some pupils when asking passers-by questions was impressive."
Student Natasha Bannister said: "I'm now more confident communicating with new people."
