Girls Volleyball
For almost two years, the academy's Volleyball Team has met every Thursday between 3 and 4pm in the academy sports hall. Volleyball is one of the four sports being championed by the Premier League 4 Sport programme; the other three are Badminton, Judo and Table Tennis. The programme is supported by Premier League Football Clubs across the UK.
Along with St. Patricks, Walkden and Moorside High Schools, we are extremely lucky to be supported by Manchester United. Each school runs satellite sessions but once a month they all meet up for a 'hub' session where they train and play fixtures together.
At our last tournament, 'Fred the Red', Manchester United's mascot, made a guest appearance and Kayley Ryan was nominated the 'Most Valuable Player' for the Academy.
The students who are members of our Hub Team are Lauren Hunter, Katie Hackett, Alex Cowlishaw, Natrice Crick, Becky Ryan, Chloe Ash, Kayley Ryan, Karla Mortimer and Byan Abu Daka.
It's going to be a busy year for the Hub Team as they begin training for the Under 16s National Tournament 2011-12.
New team players are always welcome. Feel free to join us on a Thursday afternoon at 3pm in the sports hall - see you there!
