Young Volunteers
Our Young Volunteers have been busy raising money and helping out in the community during enrichment. Activities this term have included:
- Raising £150.47 for the ‘Make a Wish Foundation' by bag-packing at Morrisons.
- Spending time with the elderly at Alexandra House on a reminiscence project and also bingo which the residents loved-as did Miss Hulme, the centre's new Bingo caller!
- Volunteering at Barton Moss Primary, listening to Key Stage 1 children read, helped with Nativity preparations and organised the library.
- Helping to organise, publicise and run the Brookhouse Ladies Social Club Tea Dance.
Darcey Watt, Deputy Head Girl said: "I've really enjoyed the diversity of voluntary work. I met agencies I wouldn't have had the opportunity to, without the programme."
Lynsey Hulme, Extended Schools Co-ordinator said: "There's been a fantastic response to our Young Volunteers within the community. They've been a credit to the academy. I've been immensely proud of all of the girls for their professional, caring and open minded manner throughout the programme; a pleasure to spend Wednesday afternoons with!"
