Year 8 City of Salford Cup Winners
Congratulations to the Year 8 Football Team who won 7 - 1 in the Salford Schools Cup Final 2010 against Buile Hill High School. Well done to all!
The Buile Hill team claimed to have been unbeaten in two years and were the Cup winners last year - so this only adds to our team's achievement.
Congratulations to goal scorers Malek Abdo, Jordan Southworth, Jack Nicholson, Fraser Howard and Nathan Yates-Price.
However, goals alone do not win a match, so well done also to the rest of the team which included Danny Wright, Ben Cottam, Zac Johnson, Lewis Fox, Kade Woods, Josh Walker, Kyle Galbraith, Daniel Kanavan, Macauley Rothwell, Cameron Loghan and Caleb Nobel.
After the match and the 7-1 result, the boys were presented with a winner's medal and trophy. The trophy is now proudly displayed in the school cabinet outside the training room. The Cup triumph has come after a long season of hard work; the team only lost one game throughout the whole competition!
The team was managed by Aaron Kane, English and Media Studies Teacher and Graham Healey, Senior Cover Supervisor, who were in charge of tactics and strategy! Ben Charles, Teaching and Learning Coordinator, Science, took charge of fitness coaching.
Aaron Kane said "I would just like to say a big thank you to all the staff that came to watch the footballers last night as their support really helped."
"I would also like to give a huge shout out to Graham Healey and Ben Charles who have given up their time and worked hard to ensure that the boys were at their best for every game."
He added, "Please congratulate the boys and the two staff when you see them as this took a huge team effort, plenty of blood, sweat and even a few tears!"
