Students Enriched with a Passion for Coaching

Internal Filler

After realising their passion for football, three of SCA's Sixth Form students decided to use their skills in Football Coaching to spread their enthusiasm amongst Primary School children, in an after school football club.

Sixth Form students Kyle Macdonald, Aaron Richardson and Scott Sheridan came up with the idea and broached the subject with Sixth Form Support Officer and Enrichment Coordinator, Charlotte Bradshaw. She contacted Seedley Primary School, Salford, on behalf of the boys and to arrange it for them.

The enthusiastic trio have been attending Seedley Primary to provide both a PE lesson for Year 5's and an after school club for all pupils. They try to include a large ‘fun element' to keep the children engaged and interested but gradually develop their footballing skills.

Aaron Richardson, Year 13, said: "Some of the kids can be hard to talk to but we know how to handle them. It has definitely helped to improve our communication skills. I really enjoy training them and who knows; maybe we are training up the next Wayne Rooney!"

Seedley Primary's Head Teacher Karen Hulse, said: "We thought this was a fantastic idea and were so pleased to hear that the three students were so eager to help. It has proven such a massive success that we have a waiting list of children wanting to join."

The boys have recently attracted media attention and have appeared on Channel M; if you'd like to see their film please visit http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xv1xHFzhYhg
