Budding Radio Producers Win Key 103 Competition
Year 9 pupils from Salford City Academy have triumphed in a Key 103 competition, sponsored by The Highways Agency. A group of 12 pupils created a creative but informative radio advert highlighting the dangers of crossing motorways. The competition began when the Key 103 Media Bus visited the Academy in November and gave a group of Year 9 Salford City Academy students the opportunity to become Radio Producers for the day. A selection of all these road safety adverts were created but only two were chosen to be outstanding and the 12 ‘producers’ involved were invited to the Key 103 studios in Manchester to see their adverts produced professionally. The Highways Agency has since judged entries from 25 schools across the North West and has short listed just three winners, including Salford City Academy. The adverts are now live on air!
