Pupil Scores with Liverpool FC

Internal Filler

I would like to celebrate this very special achievement by Malek Abdo and congratulate him for successfully passing his six week trial with Liverpool Football Club and for agreeing a 12 month contract to play for the club’s Under 14s team as a striker.

During the trial Malek played, and scored against, Manchester United, Blackburn and other big name teams and proved himself to Liverpool FC.  This is a huge achievement and the opportunity to join the Liverpool Football Academy and follow in the footsteps of Michael Owen and Steven Gerrard is something that only presents itself to a select few.

Malek was easily identifiable as a pupil that has huge potential, but not just because of his sporting ability. What makes Malek stand out is his attitude—he has a winning mentality that spreads to his team mates and makes them want to play better. He has a determination and a steadfast desire to be the best that he can and he works hard to get the same out of those around him. His team mates are genuinely excited for Malek and were the first to appreciate the enormity of his opportunity and now share the sense of pride the whole school has for his extraordinary achievement.

I would also like to take this opportunity to congratulate the staff for their role in Malek’s success. When I first informed Malek’s father about a scout inviting his son for trials at Liverpool FC he was  concerned that he didn’t want football to get in the way of Malek achieving at school. That concern was soon dismissed as I was able to point out the academic success Malek was enjoying at school. Malek, like all of the pupils at the Academy, has the support of an extremely dedicated and professional staff that seek to develop him in every aspect through his school career. It is a combination of Malek’s ability and attitude along with the support of the staff that has enabled him to seize this amazing opportunity with both hands.

With that said let me pass on the thanks from Malek’s father to all the staff for their hard work and wish Malek the very best of luck and long may he continue to strive to achieve the best in himself.
