5,6,7,8 - Let's Celebrate

Internal Filler

Abbie Dickens is a member of the Red Hot Flames Dance Team and is to compete in the World Cheerleading Championships in 2010.

Abbie, Year 10, has been a member of the Red Hot Flames Dance Team for 6 ½ years and trains 3 or 4 times a week! Her hard work and talent has paid off as she has been selected to represent the UK next year at World Championships in Florida, USA.

The Red Hot Flames were selected by the UK Cheerleading Association (UKCA).  They were picked as they are the UK Cheer Dance Champions for the fourth year running.  Last year, they came ninth at the World Championships - a massive achievement as the girls do this sport as a hobby!

The UKCA were so pleased with the dance teams' achievements that they selected them again to represent the UK at the prestigious Championships.  The dance team then had to select a group of their girls to go to America.

"Abbie was selected in September 2009.  Her commitment and dedication is outstanding, her technique and performance at competition level was acknowledged this year at National level when her team, the Red Hot Sparklers successfully won the UK title, this is the reason why I chose her to be on the World Team " says Suzanne Roberts, Red Hot Flames coach.

Abbie says "It was a secret audition! We didn't know we were being auditioned, but then I was picked out and told I could go to the World Championships if I wanted to and that it would be a lot of work! Straight away I said I wanted to go."

"We'll be staying in Disneyland; so we'll arrive, train, then take part in the competition. Hopefully we'll celebrate with some holiday time!"
