Sponsors

The Academy has two sponsors, the United Learning Trust (ULT) and Manchester Church of England Diocese, both of whom make an invaluable contribution to the successes of Salford City Academy.

United Learning Trust

ULT is a subsidiary of the not-for-profit charity, the United Church Schools Trust, which owns and manages nine junior and eight senior independent schools across the country.

ULT operates a group of Academies including, Lambeth and Northampton and Salford, Manchester, Stockport, William Hulme and Accrington in the North West.

Whilst maintaining our unique character and style, being part of the ULT group brings many benefits to Salford City Academy, including:

  • Sharing best educational practice, combining the best of the public and independent sector
  • The use of common ICT platforms including Interactive Whiteboards and intranet
  • Professional training and development which challenges and develops staff
  • Group conferences involving external experts and advisers
  • Access to wider networks
  • Greater stability and permanency

Manchester Church of England Diocese

The predecessor school for the Academy was Canon Williamson C of E Voluntary Aided High School.

The Manchester Diocese is pleased to be in partnership with the ULT in setting up Salford City Academy.

The Diocese has a strong network of support for its schools and will continue to resource the academy as one of the family of Church of England schools.

The Bishops of the Diocese and the Chair of the Diocesan Board of Education have a close association with the education of all the students in the area.
